About The Position

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking a Development Officer to support mission-driven fundraising efforts that strengthen our programs and expand community impact. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Director of Communications to build donor relationships, coordinate major gifts and grants, and connect supporters with meaningful opportunities to invest in behavioral health services. Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or related discipline.
  • EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Five (5) years professional experience in personal solicitation in fund-raising or like vocation such as personal banking or sales
  • Experience with databases for fund-raising, subscription, or membership purposes
  • This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency. Therefore, the incumbent must meet all agency driving requirements, including being at least 21 years old, having been licensed for a minimum of three years, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver’s license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with individual donors, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to ensure long-term engagement and support.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Director of Communications to align donor engagement, major gifts, grants, and community outreach efforts with KMHS goals and strategy.
  • Develop compelling donor communications, stewardship materials, and impact reports to strengthen donor confidence and connection to KMHS in partnership with the Communications Department.
  • Partner with the grant manager to coordinate grant development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate donor data, gift records, and reporting within fundraising systems to ensure compliance and data integrity.
  • Monitor fundraising progress and donor activity, providing regular updates to leadership to meet annual and long-term financial goals.
  • Ensure fundraising practices reflect ethical standards, organizational priorities, and donor intent.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify funding needs, program opportunities, and donor engagement pathways.
