About The Position

Sanford Health Foundation is seeking a mission-driven Development Officer to advance healthcare philanthropy by building meaningful relationships and securing philanthropic gifts that transform patient care in the Sanford Bismarck region. We are seeking a passionate and strategic Development Officer to join the Sanford Health Foundation team. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising/development, marketing, sales, and/or journalism special event planning preferred.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare philanthropy strategies, including events, grateful patient engagement, and corporate partnerships.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable - able to pivot quickly to meet urgent or evolving priorities.
  • Customer service driven, with the ability to build trust and foster long-term relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with initiative, creativity, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and listening communication skills; comfortable presenting to groups, engaging with community leaders, and serving as a spokesperson for the mission.

Responsibilities

  • Build and steward meaningful relationships with corporate partners, grateful patients, and community leaders; solicit gifts that align donor interests with organizational priorities.
  • Lead specific fundraising initiatives and campaigns that fuel growth in critical areas of patient care and medical innovation including execution of signature events, employee giving campaign, third party fundraising, and more.
  • Collaborate closely with Foundation operations, regional clinical teams and leadership to ensure seamless donor engagement and stewardship.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset by identifying new opportunities for philanthropic investment and designing creative approaches to inspire giving.
  • Develop and deliver compelling donor communications that highlight stories of healing, innovation, and hope.
