About The Position

The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a Development Officer, Foundation Relation with a primary focus on soliciting and stewarding gifts from Foundations for exhibitions, publications, film, education, and other Museum program areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and three to five years’ relevant experience in grant writing.
• Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with finance/budgeting.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
• Experience working with a CRM database.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, both in person and over the telephone.

Responsibilities

• Works with Associate Director of Institutional Giving, Foundation Relations to strengthen and expand the Museum’s foundation donor base through active research and prospecting, thoughtful cultivation, and consistent stewardship.
• Conducts smooth and effective written and verbal stewardship of donors and prospects, through phone and email inquiries, onsite visits, and creation of written proposals and reports.
• Engages with donors and prospects frequently and proactively by phone and email to schedule onsite visits to the Museum’s galleries and programs.
• Greets and accompanies donors to programs, private tours, and Museum special events.
• Works with colleagues in curatorial departments, Conservation, Finance, Accounting, International Programs, and Archives, Library and Research Collections to collect relevant data on Museum activities.
• Drafts sophisticated proposals and reports for donors and prospects, including detailed project narratives, budgets, and reports with visuals as needed.
• Builds proposal budgets, conducts detailed financial analysis, and creates quantitative reports on funds and endowments.
• Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
