About The Position

The Joyce Theater Foundation’s Development Department is responsible for raising $6.5MM a year in contributed income for The Joyce Theater Foundation from individual, institutional, and government funders, as well as through special events. The Development Intern will gain a holistic understanding of all aspects of fundraising in a fast-paced, highly professional arts organization. This internship will primarily support Special Events and Individual Giving, with a strong focus on development of correspondence and individual research materials, as well as all aspects of The Joyce’s Annual Gala, the organization’s largest fundraiser. Applicants should be highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks. Strong communication skills - both written and interpersonal – are required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing large and small-scale special events, including receptions for donor groups and the Annual Joyce Gala
  • Assist with procuring and organizing the auction for the Annual Joyce Gala
  • Lead the organization and management of gala guest research identifying new and high affinity prospective donors.
  • Assist with the printing, organizing, and distribution of event collaterals.
  • Gain experience with the Tessitura database including data entry, account management, prospect tracking, and reporting.
  • Assist the Individual Giving team with prospect identification and research including working with online research tools including the iWave platform and compiling profiles.
  • Additional Development-focused responsibilities and tasks may be assigned accordingly, based on need.
