Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Able to obtain/ maintain active Security Clearance after Day 1 of work.
  • 2 yrs of experience in fabricator sheet metal, welding and fastening.

Responsibilities

  • Under general direction of supervisor, follow instructions and drawings and plan sequence of operations necessary to fabricate a variety of part configurations and details where tooling and equipment is available.
  • Work from engineering drawings and sketches to plan and layout work, alter the methods used and determine the necessary corrective action to be taken and perform the work required.
  • Exercise judgment to modify tooling, recommend changes and offer input to engineering on altering part design while meeting quality specifications.
  • Perform the necessary calculations and layout on parts with generally symmetrical dimensions and occasionally more difficult part configurations where fabricator must analyze the situation and determine from known choices the best way to form or shape the part and the tools best suited for the job.
  • Assist other skill groups working on joint projects and carry out related tasks in support of production and overhaul and repair programs as assigned within the scope and skill level of this job description.
  • Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions such as operator’s check list for upkeep and to assure equipment operates properly.
  • Refer unusual problems to Leader/Supervisor.
  • May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals’ skills.
  • Apply common skill crossover to perform fabrication work of similar skill level, on related metal joining, forming and cutting processes.
  • 2nd shift hours are Monday through Friday from approximately 3 pm to 12 am.
