About The Position

First Solar reserves the right to offer you a role most applicable to your experience and skillset. The position involves supporting DE tests in the Research and Development line with a focus on wet processes and roll coatings in the CHT area. You will use your understanding of engineering and technical skills to interpret instructions into actions and experimental outcomes. The role may involve assisting in troubleshooting tool/process issues and suggesting system improvements to achieve performance goals, as well as compiling and analyzing test data from performed testing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years of relevant technical experience or 2 years of experience as a Development Engineer Technician I at First Solar.
  • Associate’s Degree in an engineering discipline or similar technical discipline and 3 years of relevant technical experience or 2 years of experience as a Development Engineer Technician I at First Solar.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline or similar technical discipline, without prior technical work experience.
  • Ability to perform sample testing, semiconductor device fabrication and/or electrical or optical measurements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic to moderate process and equipment issues on the production line or in the lab.
  • Intermediate knowledge in MS Office and some knowledge of SQL/JMP.
  • Expert in execution of experiments in the wet roll coating process.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry with the ability to follow instructions for making chemical solutions.
  • Ability to prepare and submit liquid or solid samples to internal laboratories for quality assurance.
  • Ability to communicate on a regular basis with all levels of associates.

Responsibilities

  • Applies some technical skills to the position and may adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position.
  • Duties and tasks are frequently non-routine and able to resolve many questions and problems independently.
  • Has ownership within his/her functional group of a particular operational process or equipment, oversees maintenance, and trains others in this process.
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes engineering tests (ETAs) on the Research and Development line, including coordination across team boundaries.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Complies with Company's Environmental, Quality, Safety or any other policies that have been enforced.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
