About The Position

Massachusetts Immigrant Collaborative (MIC) is hiring a Development Director. They have retained Riverwalker Talent for this search. Location: This is a primarily remote role with the need to attend in-person events and meetings in the Greater Boston area on an as needed basis (several times per month at a minimum). Two Ways to Join Us: Full-Time, Benefitted $80,000 - fixed salary 5 weeks vacation, 5 wellness days, ~3 weeks office closures (approx 8 weeks of total PTO) Health insurance (Harvard Pilgrim) with 401(k) with 3% employer match Ideal for a development professional eager to grow in their career with a solid track record Fractional Expert Leader $70,000-$80,000 Prorated benefits (no health plan or retirement plan) Commitment is roughly 3 to 3.5 days per week Ideal for experienced development professionals desiring a flexible schedule In-person presence required for key meetings and events About the Massachusetts Immigrant Collaborative The Massachusetts Immigrant Collaborative (MIC) is a statewide partnership of 15 predominantly immigrant-led, direct service organizations — built by and for the communities we serve. Founded in April 2020, MIC has grown into a powerful network grounded in a core belief: when immigrant communities thrive, our entire nation prospers. MIC is a small, grassroots organization working to make a big impact. MIC and our partner organizations deliver life-changing services across Massachusetts, including: Stabilization and emergency assistance Immigrant legal services Workforce development and workers' rights Advocacy to promote immigrant rights MIC expands the capacity of our partners through targeted funding, shared resources, and cross-organizational collaboration. About the Role The Development Director will be the primary architect of MIC's individual and corporate giving strategy — prospecting and cultivating major donors, connecting them to our Executive Director, and serving as a visible ambassador for our mission in the community. This role is for someone who is energized by relationship-building and believes deeply in immigrant justice. High priority will be given to candidates with lived immigrant experience in the United States, preferably in Massachusetts.

Requirements

  • A relationship-builder and connector who can authentically engage donors, volunteers, and community members
  • A proven fundraiser with a track record of prospecting and closing new donor pipelines and expanding existing ones
  • For the Fractional role , we’ll be looking for expertise and a strong track record
  • For the Full-time role , we’ll be looking for proven success and related experiences
  • Someone who is comfortable being a visible face of MIC — speaking at events, making introductions, and advocating for our mission
  • A data-driven operator who takes CRM hygiene seriously and uses data to make smarter decisions
  • A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
  • A team player who thrives in collaborative environments and can also work independently with initiative
  • Comfort working across multicultural and multilingual communities
  • Strong organizational skills to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic, grassroots (but highly responsive) environment

Nice To Haves

  • Lived immigrant experience in the U.S. — this will be given high priority
  • Familiarity with immigration services, workers' rights, or economic mobility programs
  • Success in building major gift programs

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement donor cultivation and stewardship strategies, including legacy and major gifts
  • Build and manage a major donor pipeline of individual and corporate donors — identify prospects, conduct research, and make strategic introductions
  • Prepare the Executive Director with briefings, talking points, and materials ahead of donor meetings
  • Create compelling, personalized pitches and proposals for prospective donors
  • Leverage MIC partner and network events to identify and deepen donor relationships
  • Oversee timely, personalized acknowledgement and stewardship communications
  • Administer and maintain CRM database, optimize performance
  • Produce dashboards, revenue forecasts, and fundraising reports for the Executive Director and Board
  • Assess ROI of fundraising goals and strategies; adapt based on evidence
  • Collaborate with finance to track restricted and unrestricted funds and support audit documentation
  • Attend community events, networking opportunities, and sector convenings as MIC's development ambassador
  • Speak confidently and authentically about MIC's mission, programs, and impact to diverse audiences
  • Cultivate meaningful partnerships with local businesses, community groups, and civic organizations
  • Engage board members in fundraising — prepare them, support them, and celebrate their wins
  • Plan and execute donor engagement events and convenings
  • Collaborate with Executive Director on short and long-term revenue goals
  • Build board capacity for fundraising, including trainings and recruitment
  • Ensure that fundraising efforts are aligned with MIC's strategic priorities
  • Manage monthly donor newsletter and seasonal fundraising campaigns
  • Maintain a compelling, cohesive MIC brand narrative across channels
  • Create messaging toolkits, story libraries, and case studies that translate outcomes into donor-facing narratives
  • Work with communications associate on website copy and social media aligned with development goals
  • Support the Foundation Relations Director with grant compliance, tracking, and reporting
  • Coordinate with program and finance staff to develop grant budgets and ensure compliance requirements are met
