About The Position

KACU-FM Development Director Position: Development Director For the purposes of ACU’s Background Check and Self-Reporting Policy, this position is classified as security sensitive. Exempt/Full-time Name: The key principles of this job are to: Support ACU’s Mission: Educate students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world. Help KACU meet its missional goals of serving the community, through underwriting and membership campaigns.

Requirements

  • Know how to perform on a PC and Macintosh
  • Basic knowledge of public radio
  • Knowledge of underwriting sales (advertising sales) techniques
  • Strong networking/people skills. Should be outgoing and social
  • Basic computer skills to include word processing and spreadsheet
  • Basic knowledge of accounting practices

  • ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.

Responsibilities

  • The sale and management of underwriting for the on-air support of KACU
  • Produce new leads/sales each month
  • Maintain current underwriters
  • In conjunction with the traffic manager, make certain that all billing is current
  • Work with General Manager & KACU staff to set station goals
  • Coordinate membership drives
  • Work with station staff to create and execute marketing plan for KACU
  • Be part of the public face of the station
  • Outreach with community organizations to establish media sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Produce special events such as Coffee with KACU, annual Christmas radio play, guest speakers, trade show booth participation, donor events, underwriter appreciation events, etc
  • Other duties as needed by a growing public radio station
  • Plan twice-yearly membership campaigns
  • Coordinate theme and design of fundraising premiums
  • Prepare challenge grants and matching funds for pledge drives
  • Schedule volunteers
  • Organize decor, snacks, and food
  • Create social media posts about fundraising
  • Work on-air shifts during pledge drives
  • Manage Captains Log during fundraising
  • Send thank you gifts after campaign ends
  • Prepare underwriting proposals for clients
  • Write FCC and CPB compliant copy for all underwriters
  • Use Arbitron data from Radio Research Consortium for listener analysis
  • Prepare regular pipeline reports on underwriting
  • Plan, coordinate and provide underwriters for special fundraising and marketing projects
  • Plan and coordinate KACU participation in Abilene Business Expo
  • Network with community leaders, and advisory council members
  • Work to secure all underwriters on yearly contracts
  • Work with agencies and foundations on cross promotion and fundraising
  • Work with student office assistants
  • Renew underwriters
  • When possible maintain contact with Abilene Chamber of Commerce activities
  • Use social media and mass emails to communicate with KACU listeners and underwriters
  • Coordinate with Community Advisory Board to schedule meetings and prepare for them
