This is an opportunity to join a strong Chapter team, working closely with the Piedmont Triad Market Director and Development Director as well as an outstanding group of local volunteers to expand the reach and impact of the Chapter. The Development Coordinator is focused on building relationships with individuals and families across the 20-county Piedmont Triad Market by networking, communicating, and sharing the mission of Breakthrough T1D and the urgent need to raise funds to cure, prevent, and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D). The successful candidate will expand awareness throughout the Piedmont Triad by working with potential and existing volunteers and donors and encouraging their participation in revenue-generating activities. This remote position is based in North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad, which stretches from Avery County to Alamance County and from Rockingham County to Moore County. Major cities include Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, Burlington, Boone, Asheboro, and Pinehurst.

Requirements

  • Some college and a minimum of 2-3 years of fundraising experience or relevant business/volunteer experience.
  • Must be a self-starter while also being collaborative and an amazing team player.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the Piedmont Triad on a daily basis.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, such as coordination of people and resources, planning, and resource allocation.
  • Ability to develop presentations, reports, and business correspondence, manage files and records, and coordinate other office procedures.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Active listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with computer systems and databases.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledge of CRM.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and maintains the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of Breakthrough T1D.
  • Understands the strategic direction and purpose of the organization and supports the Chapter’s fundraising strategies and business needs.
  • Identifies, recruits, and engages new participants, donors, and volunteers in the appropriate Breakthrough T1D program(s).
  • Stewards and coaches a portfolio of new and returning Family Walk Teams.
  • Attends networking events, including health and volunteer fairs, across the Piedmont Triad.
  • Builds relationships with other community partners, such as school nurses and camps.
  • Crafts engaging messages for Piedmont Triad-focused social media and other communication channels.
  • Coordinates, evaluates, and expands fundraising and non-fundraising programs under the direction of the Market Director and in collaboration with the regional team and volunteer leadership.
  • Helps manage events and donor development activities for the Chapter.
  • Helps develop annual plans for assigned activities, including goals, objectives, and follow-up.
  • Develops and delivers presentations, as required, and provides input and suggestions.
  • Assists in the functioning of the Chapter’s daily operations, projects, and tasks.
  • Prepares information needed for meetings, where applicable.
  • Manages and maintains accurate and complete financial records.
  • Submits reports to the Market Director and others as assigned.
  • Ensures accurate recording of information in database, file system, and/or records.
  • Creates, updates, and revises as needed.
  • Responds to and follows through on inquiries, needs, complaints and/or issues in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Accountable for meeting deadlines, responding to volunteers, Market Director, Executive Director, and requests from other departments.
  • Maintains a good understanding of Breakthrough T1D’s mission and research cure therapeutics.
  • Performs other duties as required.
