Duke Health Development & Alumni Affairs (DHDAA) supports a flexible work environment by offering on-site (in office 5 days a week), hybrid (in office a minimum of 2 days a week or defined by manager), remote (work off-site 5 days a week), and flexible start and end time work arrangements. All team members must reside within a 50-mile radius of our downtown Durham office.

If working a hybrid or remote schedule, individuals must have access to and maintain a secure home office environment with high-speed internet service and work collaboratively with others using a variety of technologies and tools. With approval from their manager, staff members may work a flexible schedule in terms of start/end times, while working within DHDAA’s core work hours between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (eastern standard). At the discretion of Managers and/or Senior Leadership, staff working a hybrid, remote or flex schedule may be required to be in the office on days and/or times outside of the agreed upon schedule.

Responsible for working directly with the Senior Director of Development for Duke Eye Center, the Executive Director of Development for MSCC, and collaboratively with gift officers across both the Eye Center and the Medicine, Surgery & Clinical Care (MSCC) teams to initiate and assist with activities required to develop and implement individual prospective donor identification and pipeline management, donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies aligned with institutional priorities. The MSCC Team works with grateful patient donors across departments and programs including Duke Eye Center, the Departments of Ophthalmology, Medicine, Surgery, and Ob/Gyn, Duke Heart, Duke Transplant Center, and additional clinical areas.

Work Arrangement – Hybrid; This is not a remote position. This is a full-time position located in Durham, NC.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the MSCC Executive Director of Development and the other MSCC Development Associate to support overall MSCC team portfolio strategy, including referral tracking, visit follow up, and portfolio quality control.
• Coordinate prospective donor outreach, portfolio activity, and prioritization for the Senior Director of Development for Eye and other assigned MSCC gift officers, collaborating with development colleagues and administrative partners.
• Assist in executing strategies for the full donor engagement cycle – identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship – for Eye Center and other MSCC prospects and donors, including serving as an interface with Prospect Development, Strategic Events, Stewardship Gift Planning, and other DHDAA partners.
• Utilize donor databases (Salesforce, DADD, Gobel) to track and prioritize donor activity, maintain accurate prospect data, and run portfolio and activity reports as needed.
• Thoroughly review prospect files and gather information about Duke Health constituents to prepare briefing materials, talking points, and other supporting materials for senior leaders, faculty, volunteers, and gift officers.
• Enter donor activity in all fundraising systems in a timely, accurate manner.
• Maintain and support administration for the Duke Eye Center Leadership Council portfolio, ensuring timely tracking and follow up.
• Draft correspondence for senior leaders, clinicians, and development staff, including acknowledgments, stewardship updates, and solicitation related communications.
• Coordinate and manage special projects, including the development of proposals, philanthropic support documents, and other external communications; collaborate with colleagues across the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, Strategic Events, Stewardship, Gift Planning, Engagement, and Prospect Development.
• Assist with planning and supporting donor cultivation and stewardship events for both Eye Center and MSCC programs, working collaboratively with Strategic Events, Stewardship, and other DHDAA teams.
• Provide stewardship support for donors through correspondence, preparation of tailored stewardship reports, presentations, and follow up documentation; partner with gift officers to implement stewardship plans for high level donors.
• Support administrative and logistical activities for the Duke Eye Center Leadership Council, including meeting planning, content preparation, and volunteer coordination.
• Other related duties as assigned.
