About The Position

The Development Associate (DA) works with the Director of Development (DOD) to implement and execute a comprehensive fundraising and outreach program to support Club’s mission and programming for the Boys & Girls Club of Newton. The DA will assist in managing the department’s Annual Fund efforts particularly with Annual Fund donor prospecting, cultivating, asking, and stewarding. The DA will help identify and cultivate new individuals, businesses, and support grant writing while working with the DOD to develop a comprehensive development plan. The DA will support the board’s Resource Development Committee and provide information to assist board members in their fundraising activities. The DA will be responsible for full donor database (Salesforce) management from gift recording to acknowledgements, and from generating reports to using that information in strategic ways. The DA will help support the Club’s premier fundraising event efforts including the annual Gala and auction as well as Golf Tournament as well as other smaller club events as necessary.

  • Two years or more of experience within a development or business department within a nonprofit
  • Experience with non-profit development activities including, individual giving/ annual giving solicitation campaigns, Grant writing, and fundraising events.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Salesforce or like nonprofit donor database.
  • Detail and deadline oriented.

  • Four-year college degree preferred.
  • Understanding of and having a passion for mission-driven work.
  • Prior experience with or personal connection to the Boys & Girls Club a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process donations through various digital services and traditional mail, ensuring careful, proper data records management in Salesforce database.
  • Prepare and deliver timely acknowledgement letters and other correspondence
  • Develop, maintain, and update the appropriate record keeping and filing systems to ensure that all donors data are recorded and acknowledged in a timely fashion
  • Continually update and correct database records
  • Assist the Director of Development with the preparation of fundraising mailing lists, gift reports, some event planning, Board and committee meetings and reports, marketing initiatives.
  • Prepare and manage professional and timely donor fundraising mailings each year (typically November and May).
  • Prepare mailing lists, materials and timely delivery of solicitation mailings and acknowledgements.
  • Conduct research on current and prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Support, and in some cases execute, donor prospect cultivation, stewardship, and “ask” actions.
  • Assist the Director of Development and the Executive Director with the preparation of meeting reports.
  • Prepare draft proposals for private and corporate foundation grants to support club operating programs.
  • Ensure grants are correctly saved in donor Salesforce database and all relevant deliverables / restrictions are properly noted and communicated.
  • Prepare and ensure timely delivery of grant reporting.
  • Research prospective new opportunities for funding.
  • Support the planning and execution of Club’s premier fundraising events including the annual Gala and Golf Tournament.
  • Support other Club events as needed, i.e. Fight Night, Family Night, Basketball Marathon, etc.
  • Support the planning, execution, and follow-up of meetings
  • Assemble materials for Board of Directors as well as Board sub-committee meetings
  • Professionally support business office with Telephone, mail, and front desk office support as needed
  • Regularly prepare and maintain Social Media, Newsletter, and other communications pieces that spotlight the Club’s programming and partnerships.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Development or Executive Director
