About The Position

The Development Associate will serve as the heartbeat of our Development and Communications department. In this fast-paced environment, you will have the opportunity to engage with all facets of development, work on significant growth prospects in fundraising, marketing and communications and play an important role as the agency builds its fundraising capacities, especially as it ramps up toward its 50th Anniversary Campaign for 2029-2030. This position will report to the Director of Special Events & Fundraising and work closely with the Vice President of Development & Communications and, often, in tandem with our Communications Manager.

Requirements

  • Education: Musthaveearneda bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Passion: A strong commitment toOutreach’s mission to help individuals and families struggling with substance use and behavioral health issues tolive their lives to the greatest potential.
  • Experience: At least3-5years’previousexperience contributing to development/fundraisingworkata non-profit organization, preferably in the behavioral health field.
  • Skills: Exceptional verbal, writing, and interpersonal communication skills,keen attention to detail,highly organized, andableto deliver high-quality work under deadlines.
  • Technology:ProficiencywithRaiser’s Edge NXTor othersimilarCRM tools, andfamiliarity with wealth screening tools is also aplus.
  • Valid Driver’s License isrequired

Responsibilities

  • Managedepartmentaladministration and operations, with a focus on event support,prospect research,development and execution of direct mail and email appeals, and annual report andgenerationof fundraising reportsutilizingtheagency’s database of record,Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Collaborate withDevelopment & Communications teammembersto achieve the organization’s fundraising& developmentgoals.
  • Develop and implement administrative processes to ensure the fundraisingand developmentefforts run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Provide robust support to the development department.
  • Manage administrative tasks for the department, including taking meeting notes,developing,anduploading donorprofiles,generating action and revenue reports,assistingin internal and external scheduling, andadditionaldata entry as needed.
  • Assistin large mailings by way of US mail and electronic mail routes.
  • Assistin the execution of limited direct mail and email campaignsand quarterly newsletters, with a newmajor giftscampaignas part of the agency’s50thAnniversaryCampaign.
  • Track foundation report and proposal deadlines andprovidingweeklyupdatesfor the Executive Management team.
  • Undertake special assignments as requested by Executive Team,Vice President for Development and Communicationsand the Director of Special Events and Fundraising.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Special Events and Fundraising,assistwith all in-person fundraising, development,board,and staff events including pre- and post-eventfollow upand onsitelogistics.
  • Input andupdateindividualand institutional donor records inRaiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Generategift reports, prospect lists, and donor profiles/wealth reports, as well ashelptoestablishOutreach’sfirstdigitaldonor moves management programin Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Draft and or update donor acknowledgement letter templates for all fundraising campaigns andevents, andgenerateindividual thank you letters forleadership’ssignature and personalization.
  • Identifyand research potential and existing donors to the organization who have a greater capacity to give.
  • Stayabreast of philanthropic news and trends to find potential benefactors not yet associated with the organization.
  • Support theBoardand Executive Teambyresearching potential donors in their contact pools.
