About The Position

This new position is ideal for someone with 2-5 years of experience in marketing and social media who understands the dynamic link between telling compelling stories and conducting fundraising activities. The development and communications coordinator (DCC) will split time between communications and fundraising responsibilities. The position reports to the director of development with input from the programs team on communications. The coordinator will help build brand awareness, visibility, and donations through print and digital media optimization, and support fundraising efforts through storytelling, grant tracking and researching, and community engagement. Programs include our signature participatory arts workshops, trainings, and open houses; and small fundraising and stewardship events. Our community members are donors, client and partner organizations, and followers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, or related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in nonprofit communications or fundraising
  • Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and content management systems
  • Ability to handle confidential data with sensitivity and integrity
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Demonstrated creativity in developing engaging content and visuals
  • Ability to take initiative, multitask, and work both as part of a team and independently

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Constant Contact, and WordPress
  • Understanding of culturally equitable design practices
  • Experience working in a social service, arts, or aging organization
  • Video editing and graphic design experience

Responsibilities

  • Generate creative content for website, social media, e-newsletters, annual reports, fundraising materials, and marketing collateral to support the growth of contributed and earned revenue
  • Manage social media accounts and calendar to engage audiences and promote initiatives
  • Conduct website marketing, online advertising, social media analytics, and SEO optimization
  • Implement communications plan and update style guide as needed
  • Attend programs and events to support donor, client, and community cultivation
  • Document programs through photography, video, testimonials, and interviews
  • Assist with donor communications and fundraising campaigns (enews, direct mail, and digital campaigns)
  • Support donor stewardship with logistics for personalized messaging, engagement strategies, and event planning/implementation
  • Attend events to support stewardship of donors and our community members
  • Coordinate the grant submission process:
  • Maintain grants calendar and submit applications and reports
  • Conduct prospect research to prepare and present funder summaries
  • Support the development of boilerplates and narratives
  • Prepare supplementary materials
