The Development Accountant at the Cesar Chavez Foundation (CCF) plays a crucial role in supporting the Housing and Economic Development (HED) Fund, which is dedicated to providing affordable housing solutions for working families, seniors, and individuals with special needs. This position is integral to the Analytics Department, reporting directly to the Development Analytics Supervisor. The Development Accountant will work closely with various Project Managers, ensuring that all financial aspects of development projects are managed effectively and efficiently. In this role, the Development Accountant will lead and execute development draws, which include both internal and lender draws, utilizing advanced Excel skills. The accountant will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring project cash flows, ensuring that there is adequate funding for development activities while also identifying potential cash flow challenges that may arise. Additionally, the position requires monitoring and managing project costs, which encompasses construction expenses, acquisition costs, and all other development-related expenditures. Vendor management is another key responsibility, which involves reviewing and coding invoices, ensuring their accuracy, and processing payments in a timely manner. The Development Accountant will also resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies as they occur. Collaboration is essential in this role, as the accountant will work closely with Financial Management to reconcile project ledgers in Yardi, ensuring accurate financial reporting. Furthermore, the Development Accountant will collaborate with Project Managers during project closings and conversions, participate in weekly project standing meetings, and assist Property Management during the transition of development projects. The role also includes reviewing and approving Construction Payment Applications, identifying areas for process improvement, and providing recommendations to enhance efficiency. Administrative tasks related to financial recordkeeping and document management will also be part of the responsibilities assigned to the Development Accountant.
