About The Position

Working in partnership with both Developed and Emerging Fixed Income teams, the Portfolio Strategist will represent the firm’s products and strategies to institutional investors with a focus in Fixed Income. They will work closely with researchers and portfolio managers within the teams, and act as liaison with GMO’s Product Marketing and Global Client Relations groups. They will serve as a source of product and market knowledge and represent GMO’s Fixed Income views internally and externally.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience and demonstrated competency with Fixed Income investing.
  • Experience in Emerging Fixed Income strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to cover the macro backdrop.
  • Ability to perform portfolio analysis and run simulations using proprietary tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent presentation skills and client interaction charisma.
  • Ability to convey complex insights creatively and clearly.
  • Willingness to actively share ideas and constructively challenge colleagues.
  • Strong creative abilities to produce informative client materials.
  • Excellent client service skills and proven ability to maintain strong relationships.
  • Strong sense of integrity.
  • High energy level and willingness to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Developed and Emerging Fixed Income teams to develop deep product knowledge and market expertise.
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of the team’s investment philosophy, process, and product history.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Emerging and Developed Fixed Income team’s existing and prospective client base.
  • Play a key role in influencing product marketing positioning, product development, and competitive differentiation.
  • Advance and close sales to drive the team’s business development and retention.
  • Conduct team portfolio reviews and marketing meetings.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and gain clients’ respect as a 'trusted advisor.'
  • Develop a facility in speaking about GMO’s broad history, investment philosophy, fund offerings, and macroeconomic trends.
  • Collect and share client and prospect-related feedback with the investment team.
  • Collaborate effectively with Global Client Relations and other strategists.
  • Produce and own marketing materials for the Developed and Emerging Fixed Income products.
  • Drive key elements of the team’s client-related materials, including authoring performance commentary and maintaining marketing materials.
  • Create compelling content such as thought leadership white papers and presentation materials.
