Northrop Grumman Navigation Targeting and Survivability (NTS) seeks to fill the position of Front-line Manager of Software Engineering as part of the Development and Operations (DevOps) organization in the Central Region Engineering, Sciences & Technology (ES&T). The position will be located at the Rolling Meadows, IL Facility. Management duties will require tasking and coordination of approximately 10-15 engineers, and process and resource coordination with functional homeroom management. The candidate will have 75% technical responsibilities: develop, modify and maintain software test solutions using DevOps engineering best practices & standards and participate in the full life-cycle of software development. The Software Manager will also be responsible for staffing and workload forecast; support and adherence to standard DevOps processes; lessons learned; and employee engagement, mentoring and career development, including training and identification and training of skills required to execute on programs. The responsibilities include the recruiting, sourcing, onboarding, and contract maintenance for the contractors working in the business area. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills and will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Software Manager will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals. The selected candidates will work closely with Managers of other engineering disciplines, and Program Managers. This is a full-time and on-site position at our Rolling Meadows, IL location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a minimum 8 years of overall experience or a Master's degree in STEM field with 6 years of overall experience.
  • Technical team leadership experience.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, etc).
  • Familiarity with various version control systems (Github, Bitbucket) and Agile software planning tools (Rally, Jira, etc).
  • Experience in the principles of Continuous Integration, Automation and/or modelling of test solutions for embedded systems.
  • Must have interim Secret clearance prior to start and ability to obtain and maintain Active Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Software Architecture skills (Design Patterns, Objected Oriented Design).
  • Experience with C/C++ or similar language using object-oriented development.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Experience with Java.
  • Multi-threaded PC based application Programming Experience.
  • Proven communication and team leadership skills.
  • Experience working with technical customers.
  • Experience with software engineering and architecture practices.
  • Active Secret clearance.
