The Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) Computational Sciences Infrastructure and Architecture (gCS I&A) seeks a talented and motivated DevOps Engineer to join us in supporting and driving software infrastructure solutions. Your responsibilities will include working with a complementary team of scientists, software engineering staff and IT professionals to deploy and support infrastructure solutions for a broad range of scientific groups. The Infrastructure and Architecture Engineering Services group seeks a DevOps engineer to work closely with Software Engineers, Product Owners, as well as key partner stakeholders including Computational Scientists, ML Scientists, and Research Scientists. You'll help build robust and scalable systems that unlock the potential of our diverse scientific data, accelerating the discovery and development of life-changing treatments for patients.

  • Help build and maintain gCS infrastructure platforms and services
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments and updates
  • Monitor and enhance cloud and on-premise infrastructure for performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure and deployment issues to minimize downtime
  • Support operational needs by maintaining cloud-native systems, applications, and utilities
  • Work with business partners and support to develop monitoring and observability more effectively
  • Rigorously maintain technical systems and solutions documentation
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or similar technical field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering role
  • Deep understanding and experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with observability platforms (e.g. Grafana Cloud, DataDog, Prometheus)
  • Experience with containers/container orchestration: Docker, K8/ EKS / ECS / AWS Fargate
  • Proficiency in at least one of the IaC frameworks: Terraform, Cloudformation, CDK
  • Experience with CI/CD frameworks: one of the following: Gitlab CI, Github Actions, Jenkins
  • Discretionary annual bonus based on individual and Company performance
