About The Position
Detroit Speed and Engineering is seeking an experienced fabricator for our hotrod/custom car shop located in Mooresville, North Carolina. The ideal candidate should be a well-rounded fabricator with a strong general knowledge of all automotive systems. It is preferred that this individual is an automotive enthusiast at heart, possessing the skills, knowledge, and passion to build cars at the highest level. The role involves a variety of tasks that are essential to the fabrication and assembly of custom vehicles, ensuring that each project meets the high standards expected by our clientele. Key responsibilities include the replacement of original sheet metal components such as floor pans, quarter panels, and rocker panels, as well as the installation of 4 link rear suspension components and mini tubs. The fabricator will also be responsible for fabricating to accommodate late-model engine and transmission packages, scratch building or modifying stainless steel exhaust systems, and bending and installing roll bars, cages, and harness bars. Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding is necessary, as is the ability to build custom seat mounts, center consoles, and dash components. Attention to detail is crucial, as the fabricator will need to gap and modify exterior panels to maintain a consistent fit, build and mount stainless-steel brake and fuel lines, and shape and form custom interior or exterior panels. The role also requires research and timely requests for parts to maintain workflow, installation and fabrication of front suspension components, and final assembly of the entire vehicle once bodywork and paint are complete. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is essential, and the fabricator may be assigned other related duties as needed.
