The Detox Technician assists nurses with admissions and discharge of patients, to include patients withdrawing from alcohol and/or drugs. The incumbent monitors patient actions and behaviors, takes vital signs and transports patients, as required. The Detox Technician also performs general housekeeping duties. The Detox Technician coordinates with the Clinical Supervisor, patients, co-workers, the nurse as lead Shift Supervisor, Emergency Medical Services and Auxiliary Staff. Lift and/or carry food and supplies, as required. Answer telephone and complete telephone screening forms and report information to Nurse. Perform non-medical intake on incoming patients. Log and store patient’s personal belongings. Take and record vital signs per protocol. Distribute supplies to patients. Prepare and serve meals and beverages, as required. Monitor patient intake of food and liquids. Monitor activities and behaviors of patients, to include notifying nurses of unusual behaviors. Report patient behavior to Nurse. Assist Nurse with patient in an emergency, as directed. Inventory supplies. Arrange, store and stock supplies. Coordinate with Nurse for discharge of patients. Remove bedding, clean linen, sanitize, and make beds. Wash, dry, fold and store laundry. Clean bathroom, showers, tubs, sinks and toilets. Wash windows, as required. Empty garbage cans in patient rooms and in other units, as required. Transport food and supplies, as required. Make rounds at the beginning and end of each assigned shift with on-coming and off-going Technician. Consult with Nurse on duty as needed and follow protocols. Other duties as assigned.
