About The Position

Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. (BCRI) is a nationally recognized nonprofit and Baltimore’s only comprehensive crisis response system of care. Since 1992, BCRI has delivered timely, community-based behavioral health crisis services for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. BCRI’s Residential Medical Detoxification Program provides a safe, structured, and medically supported environment for individuals beginning their recovery journey. Our team is committed to delivering person-centered, trauma-informed care that meets individuals with dignity and compassion. BCRI is seeking a skilled and compassionate Detox Nurse (LPN/RN) to support intake coordination, nursing evaluations, and ongoing clinical care within our Residential Medical Detoxification Program. This role is vital in ensuring that individuals entering the program meet medical necessity criteria, receive appropriate stabilization, and experience smooth, supportive transitions from referral through admission and treatment. You will work closely with the Lead Physician, Program Director, Residential Case Manager, and interdisciplinary team to coordinate admissions, communicate clinical concerns, monitor medications, and support high-quality care delivery.

Requirements

  • Active Maryland licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • 5+ years of experience working in addiction treatment and/or co-occurring disorder settings
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond effectively in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to work with individuals in crisis using trauma-informed and person-centered care practices

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate intake, triage, and admissions for individuals referred to the Residential Medical Detoxification Program
  • Complete triage screenings, contact referred individuals, and schedule admission dates
  • Maintain bed availability and coordinate admissions with the Lead Physician, Director, and Residential Case Manager
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all admissions
  • Coordinate with the Mobile Crisis Team regarding admissions to the Detox Unit or Crisis Residential Unit
  • Track admissions and discharges and send regular census updates to key program staff
  • Provide consultation to staff and outside agencies regarding intake/admission procedures
  • Conduct nursing evaluations related to addiction, mental health, and medical/somatic concerns
  • Monitor clients and administer medications as ordered
  • Document addiction, mental health, and somatic needs accurately and promptly
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Lead Physician regarding client care needs and concerns
  • Provide individual and group client education
  • Support training opportunities for staff, interns, and volunteers
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support client care and program operations
