Job Summary: The Detox Floor Nurse plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive nursing care to individuals undergoing detoxification from drugs or alcohol. They are responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing detoxification and treatment plans, administering medications, and monitoring patient progress throughout the detoxification process. The Detox Nurse collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and assists in their transition to further treatment or ongoing care. Compensation: $40-$50/hr depending on certifications and qualifications Benefits Sick Time (40 hours annually) Time and a Half Holiday Pay (Detox) 401k and up to 3% match after 3 months of employment Up to $400 per year for approved CEUs All required licensure/certification costs for position paid for by the company Schedule (Two Positions Available): Monday & Tuesday 830am-5pm OR Thursday & Friday 830am-5pm

Requirements

  • Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or Valid Registered Nurse License (RN)
  • Proven experience working in substance abuse treatment or detoxification settings is strongly recommended.
  • Solid experience with direct patient care is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of detoxification protocols, withdrawal symptoms, and medication-assisted treatments.
  • Familiarity with various substance abuse treatment modalities, including individual counseling, group therapy, and support groups.
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound judgments and decisions in complex situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and providing compassionate care.
  • Understanding of legal and ethical considerations related to substance abuse treatment and patient care.
  • Oregon State Nursing License (Required)
  • BLS Certification (Required)
  • Position is contingent on passing an OHA Background check and successful completion of a urine analysis (UA) after accepting job offer

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments of patients' physical and mental health, including substance abuse history, medical conditions, and vital signs.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and medical guidelines.
  • Administer medications, including detoxification protocols, symptom management, and medication-assisted treatments, while closely monitoring patient responses and adjusting treatment as necessary.
  • Observe and document patients' progress, including withdrawal symptoms, mental health status, vital signs, and overall physical condition.
  • Provide education and support to patients regarding the detoxification process, treatment options, and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, counselors, and other healthcare professionals, to develop comprehensive treatment plans and ensure coordinated care.
  • Work very closely with nursing assistant staff to ensure procedural compliance.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate interventions to stabilize patients.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting all assessments, interventions, medications administered, and patient progress.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards, including maintaining patient confidentiality and following organizational policies and procedures.
  • Stay current with advancements in substance abuse treatment, detoxification protocols, and nursing practices through professional development activities and continuing education.
