About The Position

Performs a variety of routine and complex public safety work in the performance of the Detention Division, providing for the incarceration and well-being of pre-sentenced and sentenced inmates. Duties and responsibilities depend upon assignment. Under general supervision, responsible for managing daily activities of a critical nature, coordinating court proceedings, oversight of investigative matters. Plans activities, ensures training of staff, prepares schedules, makes promotional recommendations, conducts performance reviews and banking duties as assigned. Keeps records of Detention Deputies. Communicates with the Detention Captain regarding all Detention Division activities.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license without record of suspension or revocation in any state.
  • No felony convictions and/or serious misdemeanor, disqualifying criminal histories.
  • Must possess certification for CPR/First Aid.
  • Ability to meet Department's physical standards
  • Must complete ICS 100 and ICS 700 within the first year of employment.
  • Must be available outside of regularly scheduled shifts to be on-call with your assigned crew.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
  • Minimum of four years’ work experience as a fully commissioned police officer; detention officer or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be 21 years or older at the time of employment.
  • Must be able to communicate in English, both written and orally.
  • Must be of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits.
