About The Position

The Detention Officer is responsible for maintaining order, safety, and security within a correctional facility. This role involves direct supervision of inmates/residents, ensuring their care and security during various activities, and adhering to established policies and procedures. The position requires flexibility to work in different areas and shifts as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent.
• Completion of pre-service correctional officer training.
• Valid driver's license and clear driving record.
• Ability to complete any required training as necessary.
• Minimum age requirement of 21 years.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and security of inmates/residents in a correctional facility.
• Provide direct supervision during housing, meals, recreation, and work assignments.
• Engage in various work areas including armory/key control, housing units, kitchen, medical, and visitation.
• Employ weapons or force when necessary to maintain discipline and order.
• Complete required training to meet contract requirements and standards.
