Requirements

• Ability to analyze data and reach logical conclusions.
• Ability to meet physical and psychological standards set by the County Sheriff and Jail Administration.
• Ability to utilize the jail computer system for data entry and report generation.
• Ability to participate in physical restraint of hostile inmates.
• Ability to complete CPR course within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain control and internal security of the Polk County Jail through active interaction with inmates and visual monitoring.
• Provide for inmates' basic needs, physical safety, and sanitary conditions.
• Apply positive or negative reinforcement for inmates violating jail rules.
• Respond calmly and organized to emergency situations such as alarms and altercations.
• Identify serious medical conditions and administer basic first aid or life-saving aid as necessary.
• Complete and maintain records for various jail reports.
• Perform various duties including housing unit officer, control room, and intake and discharge processes.
• Conduct regular and unannounced searches of inmates and inmate areas.

Benefits

• Salary range of $64,897.00 - $83,818.00 annually.
• Advanced annual entry salary of up to 12% for prior experience.
