About The Position

Under general supervision, provides detention, intake, custodial care and release of arrested inmates as prescribed by applicable ordinances and departmental procedures. Provides appropriate information and assistance to the public, department, and law enforcement agencies concerning facility activities and operations; performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One-year recent work experience with the public preferred.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work overtime and on-call as needed.
• Must be able to obtain TCOLE Basic Detention Officer certification within twelve (12) months of employment.
• Valid Texas Class 'C' driver's license.
• Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards established by the City of Rowlett.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a clear criminal history.
• Must successfully complete written exam, pre-employment drug screen, psychological and physical examination.
