About The Position

In this role you will lead and manage a team of Detention Officers, ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and order within the facility. In this critical leadership role, you will be responsible for the direct oversight of daily operations, staff training and development, and the consistent enforcement of all established regulations and protocols. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining a secure and orderly environment for all facility occupants, contributing significantly to the overall security framework. This position demands exceptional leadership, strategic problem-solving skills, and a steadfast commitment to institutional safety and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as active-duty military, detention/corrections, or law enforcement.
  • Must possess one (1) year of supervisory experience within active-duty military, detention/corrections, or law enforcement.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the daily activities of Detention Officers, ensuring adherence to all security protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facility perimeters, buildings, grounds, and access points to identify and address potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Supervise and manage access control procedures, ensuring strict compliance for all personnel, visitors, and deliveries.
  • Oversee the operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of advanced security equipment, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and communication devices, ensuring prompt reporting and resolution of any issues.
  • Lead and coordinate effective responses to emergencies, disturbances, or security breaches, implementing established protocols for incident management, de-escalation, and resolution.
  • Ensure the thorough and compliant execution of searches for vehicles, packages, and individuals entering or exiting the facility, providing guidance and corrective action as needed.
  • Direct and manage the safe and orderly movement of individuals within the facility, maintaining constant vigilance and strict adherence to established procedures.
  • Review, approve, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of detailed reports on incidents, observations, and daily security activities prepared by Detention Officers.
  • Foster and lead a collaborative environment among correctional staff, liaising effectively with other departments and supervisory personnel to enhance overall facility security and operational efficiency.
  • Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for Detention Officers, identifying areas for improvement and professional development.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of new security policies and procedures.
  • Manage shift schedules, assignments, and resource allocation to ensure adequate staffing levels and operational coverage.
