About The Position
To assist the Detention Superintendent in providing effective supervision of an assigned work shift within the detention facility. The position involves working a flexible schedule based on the needs of the institution, reviewing all paperwork generated during one's duty shift, and providing leadership and supervision for all detention staff during an assigned duty shift. The role requires proper management of all situations that might arise during a duty shift, supervising residents in accordance with procedures, making arrests, and performing restraint techniques. The position also involves working with Administration to enhance the professionalism of the detention center and becoming well versed in the use of the Family Code and Juvenile Justice System. Additionally, the role includes directing the intake and orientation process of juvenile offenders, screening juvenile referrals from local police agencies, dispensing medications, counseling juveniles, and maintaining certification through ongoing training.
