About The Position

Destination Experience Intern Since 1923, Visit Indy has proudly served as the city’s official sales and marketing organization, a non-profit charged with driving tourism to Indy. Applications set to close on Monday, March 9, 2026 POSITION PURPOSE The purpose of the Destination Experience Intern is to assist the Destination Experience department in daily tasks and special projects to ensure the overall satisfaction of clients with Indy as their event destination. The Destination Experience intern will work in office approximately 20 hours per week. All Visit Indy team members reflect the organization’s “3 Ps” culture – productive, positive and progressive.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an event management, tourism, hospitality, or related degree program required
  • Completion of at least three semesters of a degree program
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to make recommendations to effectively solve problems, using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to focus on details, handle multiple tasks, and remain highly organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interact with a variety of managers, employees, candidates, vendors, and the general public, both on a one-on-one basis and in groups
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • This position requires some physical activity, such as reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; it requires occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and moving (up to 15 pounds)
  • Good speaking and listening skills
  • Ability to perform focused work with close attention to detail
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines, and phones
  • This position requires emotional stability in order to deal with a variety of stakeholders in a professional manner; it also requires the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information related to clients, employees, and the company’s business

Responsibilities

  • Support Destination Experience daily activities as assigned
  • Support special projects for Gen Con & American Society of Association Executives Annual Meeting & exposition
  • Support logistics planning of client site visits
  • Enhance, develop, and maintain Destination Experience tools and resources through research and data maintenance
  • Organize quarterly Restaurant & Venue updates
  • Help manage Destination Experience volunteer platform
  • Develop & maintain departmental calendar including event resume distribution, amenity needs, pre-cons & welcome receptions
  • Participate in Destination Experience team meeting and partner meetings as needed
  • Assist Destination Experience Project Specialist with departmental objectives
  • Assist Visitor Services in management and staffing of city info desks
  • Conduct industry research to ensure the Destination Experience team is staying ahead of competing markets
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
