About The Position

AMO, an Akima company, is looking to add a Desktop Team Lead with a Top-Secret clearance to the team in Summerville, SC. This full-time position will support the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) network as the Desktop Team Lead responsible for overseeing desktop engineering and endpoint support across network-connected and standalone laboratory environments. This position manages a distributed technical team supporting multiple RDT&E sites while ensuring endpoint systems are maintained in accordance with DoD cybersecurity standards, STIG implementation requirements, and continuous monitoring processes. The Desktop Team Lead serves as the primary interface with the RDT&E Integrated Product Team (IPT) customer for performance, schedule, and operational coordination.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret Clearance.
  • Master’s level degree in any engineering discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in enterprise IT environments.
  • Experience managing Windows domain and endpoint environments.
  • Experience supporting STIG implementation and DoD cybersecurity standards.
  • Prior experience leading technical teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multi-site technical operations.

  • Mac OS Jamf training.
  • DCWF Windows System Administrator (40 hours) – Cyber Exchange/JKO.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support.
  • Designs, implements, installs, maintains, and administers infrastructures including hardware, software, and various configurations.
  • Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately.
  • Performs root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective measures.
  • Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures.
  • Manage and mentor a team supporting RDT&E laboratories in Charleston, Norfolk, and Washington Navy Yard.
  • Lead communication with the RDT&E IPT customer regarding performance, schedules, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure task execution meets performance expectations and quality standards.
  • Lead and assist with projects as required.
  • Oversee management of Windows domain environments and desktop support operations.
  • Support virtual machine builds/deployments for RDT&E system integration.
  • Maintain IT infrastructure endpoint devices including: Workstations. Printers. Desk and mobile phones. Audio/visual equipment.
  • Assist with server/workstation installations and technology refreshes.
  • Support installation and configuration of external workstation hardware and authorized software.
  • Collaborate with the team to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Perform system upgrades as required.
  • Support tracking and implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).
  • Assist in RMF artifact development and continuous monitoring activities.
  • Participate in patch management processes.
  • Maintain endpoint data backups and ensure data integrity.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation supporting audit readiness and compliance activities.
