In this role, the Desktop Support Technician will provide both hardware and software support, assisting users with various issues related to Mac and Windows systems. The technician will utilize remote support tools such as VNC and KVM switches to diagnose and troubleshoot problems for remote users. Additionally, the technician will interface with Dell for warranty support on systems and will be responsible for the installation of operating systems and standard software for new systems or re-imaging existing ones, both onsite and remotely. The technician will also need to troubleshoot connectivity issues, blue screens, viruses, and printing problems for both on-site and off-site users. Coordination with Dell Engineers for on-site break-fix tasks will be necessary. A basic understanding of DHCP/DNS, Active Directory, wireless connectivity, and Windows Domain account issues is essential. The role also involves working with the network team on basic troubleshooting tasks and managing asset inventory with detailed record-keeping. Customer service is a key component, as the technician will assist users through various support methods, including ticket support, email, chat platforms, and video conferencing. Special projects may also be assigned, which could include providing technical training to users, creating technical documentation, and assisting with the verification and testing of new software or processes. The position requires in-person work at the San Jose location, with structured training provided and a supportive staff environment that promotes a great work-life balance.
