Desktop Support Technician
About The Position
The University of Lynchburg, a private, regional university in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, is seeking applicants for full-time a Desktop Support Technician position in the IT department for the University of Lynchburg. This position reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by the Manager of User Support. The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by the Manager of User Support. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude and general working behavior. Job Type: FT/RPT (Benefits Eligible) Job Purpose: The IT User Support Technician is part of a team of IT professionals who provide in house technical hardware and software support for the campus. Technicians help troubleshoot and diagnose computer, printer, software, and other technology related issues.
Requirements
- Must have good teamwork skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with users that range from the novice to the experienced
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows and Mac OS
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair computer software, hardware, and associated peripherals
- Two years of college or technical coursework, or equivalent work experience required
Nice To Haves
- Some experience with SCCM and JAMF
- Two years relevant experience
Responsibilities
- Provides technical support for students, faculty, and staff
- Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs campus Windows and Mac computers
- Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots peripheral devices
- Respond to helpdesk calls, emails, and tickets
- Troubleshoot software related issues
- Basic network troubleshooting
- Other duties as assigned
