About The Position

The Desktop Support Technician at Enterprise Solutions and Management (ESM) is responsible for providing comprehensive desktop support for computer systems at Nellis Air Force Base. This role involves managing various computer platforms, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of local area networks and video teleconferencing systems. The technician will also assist in system upgrades, software installations, and maintaining system performance while adhering to security protocols.

Requirements

  • Installation, troubleshooting, and software/application support for Windows desktop systems.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and user/group permissions.
  • Experience with maintaining baseline images using MECM, including patch management.
  • Printer installation, troubleshooting, and configuration support.
  • Mobile device support including iOS and Android devices.
  • Multimedia and AV/VTC support such as MS Teams, Cisco (Web-Ex), Crestron, Polycom.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong dedication to quality customer service and effective problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide desktop support functions for computer systems at Nellis AFB including NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS workstations.
  • Administer system applications and manage software upgrades and licenses.
  • Setup and manage user accounts and troubleshoot system and software problems.
  • Monitor system performance and administer systems on unclassified and classified networks.
  • Identify technical refresh requirements for hardware and software within 30 days of known requirement.
  • Engineer and maintain a backup storage solution and perform backups.
  • Use system vulnerability scanning software and apply software patches and updates.
  • Assist the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) with accreditation package requirements and documentation.
  • Conduct research analysis on available hardware, software, and peripherals for government requirements.
  • Assist in managing the purchase, delivery, installation, and configuration of new systems or upgrades.
