About The Position

The Shaw JCC is a community center located in Akron. Our facility offers a family-friendly environment in areas of aquatics, childcare, fitness, and membership. We are looking for part-time/seasonal reliable, punctual, and friendly Desk Attendants and Summer Pool Gate Attendants. The summer pool gate position is available from May 15th - September 9th and the desk attendant is year round. Both positions will contribute to the mission, vision, and values of the Shaw JCC by providing members and guests with a pleasant and welcoming environment as they enter the Shaw Jewish Community Center of Akron. This position is responsible for creating strong relationships between the JCC and its current and prospective members, along with providing superior customer service with standards of excellence.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate has good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
  • Must have the ability to relate in a positive manner with members and fellow staff while providing exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Should have proven skills in the use of Microsoft Office and must have the ability to learn new software programs that will be used as part of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a comfortable and welcome customer service environment and treat each member and guest with dignity and respect, in a friendly, personalized and professional manner
  • Acknowledge members, prospective members, and guests, as they enter and leave the building; welcoming each person as they come into the JCC
  • Manage building access and sign in guests according to JCC policies and protocols
  • Maintain and exhibit up-to-date knowledge of all JCC programs, services, and events
  • Answer all incoming phone calls in a professional, friendly manner, transfer to the correct department and offer specifics as they relate to all JCC membership, programs, services, and events as needed
  • Assist members and guests with making reservations, scheduling services, or registering for programs and events, collecting payments as needed
  • Arrange and/or facilitate tours for all new and prospective members
  • Collect payment for all JCC services, classes, and events, and maintain balanced cash box that is counted at each shift change
  • Ensure that there is an ample supply of all current Welcome Desk forms and supplies, and inform supervisor when inventory is low
  • Work on special projects (i.e. mailings, phone calls etc.) as needed and directed by supervisor
  • Be familiar with and enact emergency protocols and other policies to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all members and guests, referring problems to appropriate staff as needed
