The Fashion Designer is responsible for designing and developing cut and sew dresses, jackets, blouses, and pants for the Biya Brand at Johnny Was. The primary objectives are to create innovative designs that resonate with our customers, drive high retail sell-through rates, and contribute to the company's profitable growth. Position Overview: Understand Brand and Customer Develop a deep understanding of the Biya division/brand identity and target customer demographics. Develop Innovative Embroideries and Prints Create original embroideries and prints for knit designs that align with brand aesthetics and trends. Research and Product Development Stay updated with fashion trends, market research, and competitor analysis to inform design decisions. Lead product development initiatives to ensure alignment with brand vision and customer preferences. Communicate with Factories Effectively communicate design specifications, technical requirements, and quality standards to manufacturing factories. Collaborate with factories to resolve production-related issues and ensure product quality and consistency. Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams Work closely and collaboratively with pattern makers, technical designers, and associates in developing technical design specification packages for apparel lines. Coordinate with production and merchandise teams to ensure timely execution of designs within the production calendar. Lead and Manage Direct Reports Supervise and mentor a team of associate and assistant designers, providing guidance and support in achieving design objectives. Uphold Johnny Was Core Leadership Qualities and promote a culture that aligns with the Company Core Values. Sample Coordination Manage and coordinate samples for showrooms according to delivery schedules and showroom requirements.
