About The Position

This position is being offered at a TEMPORARY assignment at Nordstrom. The expected duration of this temporary assignment is 6 -8 weeks, subject to change based on the needs of the business. The position will end at the conclusion of the assignment. Nordstrom has an opportunity for an apparel Designer with experience in the Women's active category to join the team in support of this temporary assignment. A day in the life… Supports design leadership in building Seasonal Brand Design Direction for their area of responsibility. Customer centric – continuous research to understand customer, trends, and shifts in the competitive landscape. Owns concept & design for their assignment – ensuring it supports Brand Design Direction, Concept, and line plan needs. Research materials, select fabric and trims & work closely with our print team to bring all elements of textile application to life. Partners with design leadership to color the line. Supports design leadership to build and curate all visual tools needed to support seasonal story telling for their assignment / team. Builds strong, synergistic relationships with all cross functional partners. Promotes a culture of continuous improvement that pushes innovation and accelerates expected outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Design preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in design industry
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe CS (required), MS Office suite and ability to hand-sketch.
  • Able to quickly adapt to new technology and systems
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong understanding of industry and trends within the Active space.
