About The Position

The Umbilical Senior Designer will play a crucial role in the design, manufacturing, and delivery of subsea oil and gas umbilicals and distribution equipment. This position is part of the Umbilical & Cable Systems Engineering team at the Mobile, AL facility, where the designer will work under the guidance of a lead engineer to ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Drafting and Design or equivalent.
• 10+ years of technical experience, preferably in subsea engineering.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with subsea umbilicals or distribution equipment is preferred.
• Ability to read and produce electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Competency with SAP, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MathCAD, and Excel.
• Effective communication skills for explaining technical information.
• Ability to develop strong working relationships in a team environment.
• Solid general technical ability and strong work ethic.
• Hands-on approach to design and willingness to support manufacturing activities.
• Familiarity with 3D rapid prototyping.
• Continuous improvement mindset focused on cost-effective design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design subsea umbilical and distribution equipment including umbilical cross sections, termination assemblies, and installation arrangements.
• Develop 3D SolidWorks models in accordance with industry and client standards under the direction of the lead engineer.
• Generate 2D drawings using AutoCAD for umbilical layouts and hydraulic/electrical schematics.
• Create comprehensive drawing packages including assembly and general arrangement drawings.
• Generate materials and BOM in SAP.
• Perform tolerance studies to ensure proper fitment of assemblies.
• Assist in preparation for internal and client design reviews.
• Provide input data to engineers for required calculations.
• Generate physical models using a 3D plotter upon request.
• Provide manufacturing and supplier support as required.
