About The Position

This Designer works with publishing partners globally. They approve creative content and develop strategies for various publishing projects. This role spans publishing formats, marketing assets, retail displays, and seasonal products, ensuring brand integrity, creative excellence, and market relevance. Additionally, Designers will have opportunities to lead original creative development for key internal projects. This role also plays a key part in partner onboarding, internal creative alignment, and cross-functional collaboration. It requires a deep comprehension of publishing and licensing, trend awareness, and the ability to manage complex workflows across global teams.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in publishing design and product development
  • Solid awareness of licensing, brand storytelling, and creative approvals
  • Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite and presentation tools
  • Experience managing diverse product formats and categories

Responsibilities

  • Manage approvals for publishing partners: Storybooks (original and style guide-based)
  • Chapter books, readers, and special formats (board, bath, cloth, wheel books)
  • Comics, graphic novels, coloring and activity books (with and without play elements)
  • Workbooks, sticker books, audio books, calendars, planners
  • Covers and cover art for apps
  • Packaging for modules, figurines, module bags, accessories, and cards
  • Books with toy/3D elements (in collaboration with the Toy Team)
  • PDQ retail displays and marketing materials (TV ads, web banners, social posts, magazine ads)
  • Lead creative development on key internal publishing projects.
  • Lead partner meetings to present style guides, assets, and future thematics.
  • Research and confirm appropriate art styles for publishing products.
  • Conduct brand immersions and training for new partners.
  • Brief internal illustration teams on thematic and publishing-specific needs.
  • Route artist tests and original art to internal teams for review and bluelines.
  • Create presentations for best practices, ops decks, quarterly meetings etc
  • Provide design direction for new properties and artwork styles.
  • Support in-house design and graphics needs.
  • Conduct biannual comp shops across major U.S. retailers and attend book fairs and conventions.
  • Present findings and insights to internal teams to inform creative strategy.
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of publishing trends, formats, and competitor products.
  • Support the eBooks team with asset preparation.
  • Collaborate with Toy/3D and other LOB teams on 2D elements (cards, booklets, assets).
  • Route products and feedback to show creators and stakeholders for transparency and alignment.
