About The Position

MG2, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design is currently looking for a Designer (Level 1) to join our team in our New York, NY office! You will be working in our Consumer Experiences (CX) Market, where you will have the opportunity to design and deliver on various types of fast-moving Retail, Food & Beverage and Luxury projects that anticipate the needs and lifestyle shifts of evolving users. The emphasis in this role is on gaining expertise and applying knowledge to more complicated projects and/or new responsibilities related to conceptual design, material selections, project specifications, technical documentation, and consultant coordination. Individuals must be detail oriented, highly collaborative, and have a passion for design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a professional architecture or interior design firm.
  • Previous experience working on food & beverage projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of project design, documentation, and delivery standards, including material selections, and project specifications.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Sketch-Up, and MS Office.
  • Some experience with design and visualization tools including, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Affinity, V-Ray, and Enscape.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a licensed professional preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the production of design deliverables, including field surveys, concept design renderings, exhibits, preliminary plans, and project specifications. Primary focus is increasing expertise and gaining foundational skills related to design and design documentation.
  • Develop working knowledge of concept design, design development, and construction documentation, including but not limited to floor plans, elevations, sections, interior design documentation, schedules, detailing, and project specifications.
  • Provide administrative support for project teams, including creating meeting agendas and minutes, updating project trackers, and generating design logs.
  • Collaborate on project programming and generation of original concept designs as directed by Project Manager or Senior Designer.
  • Explore and research project materiality with a general understanding of durability and aesthetic qualities, as well as sustainable design considerations including embodied carbon data.
  • Conduct design research from a wide variety of benchmarking sources for ideation with direction from Senior Designer.
  • Produce accurate and timely work in accordance with weekly workplans and direction given. Work should demonstrate understanding of design intent and comprehension of project budget.
