This position is responsible for working closely with the assigned product engineering team on assigned projects to enhance industry knowledge and career progression. The ideal candidate must be proficient in the use of a PC, Microsoft Office Suite, and have experience in 2D and 3D CAD modeling. This position will be expected to possess basic knowledge of engineering software and be able to learn new systems and processes quickly. The intern will support a wide range of engineering tasks and disciplines spanning the entire product life cycle from research and development, modeling and simulation, detailed design, prototype, and verification of product requirements in a test lab environment. This position will create 2D prints and 3D models for both piece part components and assemblies, along with assembly documentation. Understanding drawing standards, Change Notice practices, and creation of Bills of Material are required for this position. Two Designer Summer Internships Available

Requirements

  • Education: Enrolled in an accredited institution and actively working toward a Degree in Mechanical CAD Drafting, Mechanical Design, or equivalent
  • Experience: Hands on college programs or related work experience related to the field of study or electrical products.
  • Travel: 0-5%
  • Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Works a sufficient schedule to meet the expectations of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the preparation of mechanical and electrical designs for power and low voltage products.
  • Interacts with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis
  • Creates and updates 2D prints and 3D models for piece parts components.
  • Creates and updates 3D layouts of top-level and sub-level assemblies.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials and prepare Change Notices to release components and assemblies.
  • Self-checks own work to ensure accuracy to established drawing and design specifications and standards.
  • Provide technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds along with production support as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
