Position Description The Designer II will own the design of key assemblies and subsystems for data center products, driving drawings through prototype, validation, and into production while ensuring accuracy, clarity, and manufacturability.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hand-on design experience in a mechanical or HVAC manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with 3D Modeling software, preferably Solid Edge.
  • Experience in electrical cabling design is beneficial, preferably using AutoCAD Electrical and/or Solid Edge Electrical.
  • Proficiency with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and standard material call-outs.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple design assignments.
  • Associate's degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Industrial Design, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop and release models and detailed drawings for heat-exchangers, pump skids, valve assemblies, and control panels.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Operations to optimize designs for cost, performance, and ease of assembly.
  • Lead updates to structured BOMs, ensuring all electrical and mechanical components are correctly specified and version-controlled.
  • Review vendor prints and integrate supplier models into in-house assemblies.
  • Mentor entry-level designers; review their work for compliance with drafting standards.
  • Drive continuous-improvement initiatives in the design process, such as template creation or library consolidation.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
