With minimal supervision, perform all the duties of the Designer I position. Provide design leadership through concept, prototype, pre-production and ECN release Provide sustaining design support to existing products. Ability to lead segments of a project from concept development through final release ensuring the overall project schedule and functional requirements are met. Analyze structures/mechanisms and recommend design improvements utilizing engineering software (COSMOS and Dynamic Designer preferred). Design complex components and assemblies utilizing CAD/Solid Modeling software with minimal supervision. Perform design tasks incorporating knowledge of equipment capabilities, application techniques and design limitations. Coordinate with internal/external model shops to obtain models/prototypes of designs using, but not limited to, SLA, SLS and LOM and apply knowledge of current technology to discover alternate prototyping techniques. Generate files for various prototyping techniques. Collaborate with multiple departments in troubleshooting and assist in determining desired outcome for new and existing products and tooling. Communication with suppliers to optimize designs for cost and functionality. Work with engineers and marketing staff in dynamic conceptual stages of projects. Create ECN/ECR’s, test procedures and requests. Ensure that all product development processes and activities conform to Invacare’s quality system. In collaboration with QA/RA and in a pro-active manner, ensure that product development processes and activities meet appropriate domestic and international safety and quality standards.
