Note: benefits eligibility may be based on employment status, tenure, location, or other factors Classification: non-exempt/hourly Location: 319 Chapanoke Rd, #118 Raleigh, NC 27603 Schedule: M & F: remote, T, W, Th: in office Job Summary: The A+E Designer I is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of basic to moderate complexity construction drawings for telecommunication projects. The A+E Designer I is responsible for addressing the fit-up, feasibility, and accuracy of proposed scope of work and working with senior staff to remedy or communicate alternatives with project management. This position requires basic mathematics skills, moderate special reasoning skills, and professional written and verbal communication skills. The A+E Designer I will use AutoCAD almost exclusively for drafting and design as well as MS office suite, pdf editing, and online database management. Responsibilities may include occasional travel for engineering inspections and mappings.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD required; experience with AutoCAD 2015 or newer preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD work functions including paper space/model space, scaled viewports, blocks, text fields, dynamic blocks, libraries, and templates.
  • Strong computer skills required, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to review both technical and non-technical aspects of field work.
  • Effectively communicate and work with both internal Engineering and Project Management teams as well as customers.
  • Ability to set priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task and work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to sketch site layout and surrounding areas, read and take measurements.
  • 1-3 years of telecom CAD design experience preferred, alternately 0-4 years’ CAD design experience.
  • Associate’s degree involving drafting and architecture preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for converting field notes, architectural, engineering and/or plan sketches into working construction drawings using AutoCAD per customer specifications.
  • Responsible for revising construction drawings per customer and internal redlines.
  • Develop a familiarity with individual client requirements to adapt to client preferences as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the Structural and A&E group to prepare, draft, and review structural and A+E drawings.
  • Perform basic to moderate CAD tasks including structural modification and construction drawings for zoning purposes.
  • Ensure accurate project status tracking to facilitate project management reporting.
  • Performs site visits as needed to document field conditions for new sites and site modification projects.
  • Less than 5% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
  • Position may allow for tower climbing but is not required.
