About The Position

The most important qualification a volunteer can possess is the desire to help students navigate the road to academic success and personal happiness. No formal degree, training, or experience is required; however the district is always interested in matching volunteer skills and work experience with school/classroom needs. Volunteers who serve in an ongoing basis and have one-to-one contact with students shall be considered DESIGNATED volunteers. As such, designated volunteers shall be required to submit a criminal background check and fingerprinting, designated volunteers must volunteer at least every six months to keep their status active. Mentors, homework helpers, overnight chaperones, and volunteer coaches are examples of designated volunteers. Volunteers will be accepted into the program based on the results of their background check and screening by the school principal or principal’s designee. Volunteers must: be dependable and prompt must maintain confidentiality at all times. sign the volunteer sign-in-sheet in the main office of each school when arriving to school and upon completion of their duties wear a badge identifying them as a volunteer maintain a record of the number of hours volunteered participate in orientation and training sessions follow the directions of teachers and school administrators serve as role models by dressing professionally, avoiding inappropriate language, and demonstrating proper behavior take precautions, to be free of the scent of perfume/cologne or cigarette smoke when volunteering notify the school if they will be absent Thank you for participating in the Manchester School District volunteer program.

Responsibilities
