About The Position

The Designated Crisis Responder (DCR) provides assessment and intervention to those in crisis in collaboration with other members of the Treatment Team. This role involves mobile crisis intervention, clinical assessments, and stabilization services to adults, children, and families. The DCR also provides involuntary treatment services according to RCW 71.05, 71.34, and 70.96B (Involuntary Treatment Act).

Requirements

  • Master's degree or further advanced degree in counseling or one of the social sciences (Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Theology w/ appropriate course work) or a BSN in nursing with two years psychiatric experience.
  • Qualifies to be a Mental Health Professional in the state of Washington by meeting ONE of the following requirements: Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Psychologist, Psychiatrist; OR Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA), Associate Independent Clinical Social Worker; OR BSN in Nursing with two years psychiatric experience; OR Advanced degree in counseling or one of the social sciences from an accredited college or university and had two years of experience in direct treatment of persons with mental illness under the supervision of an MHP professional recognized by the department or attested to by a licensed behavioral health agency.
  • Within 90 days of employment, will complete agency sponsored DCR training provided through the State of Washington.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Must be able to provide vaccination records for HepB, MMR, Tdap and recent flu shot.

Responsibilities

  • Provides mobile crisis intervention and stabilization services.
  • Provides assessment and intervention in collaboration with other members of the crisis team and the outpatient treatment team.
  • Provides crisis case management and brief therapy.
  • Provides screening and triage services by telephone and face-to-face.
  • Develops individualized safety plans and treatment recommendations to ensure individual and community safety.
  • Provides support to other agency clinicians in the form of consultation and assistance with joint outreach.
  • Facilitates authorization and extensions for hospitalization.
  • Upon successful completion of DCR training, performs involuntary commitment investigations, evaluations, and associated DCR tasks, including the monitoring and petitioning for Less Restrictive Alternatives (LRA).
  • Upon successful completion of DCR training, performs other mental health evaluations including intake evaluations, school requested evaluations, jail requested evaluations, court-ordered evaluations, etc.
  • Maintains familiarity with and handles client information in accordance with Federal Regulations (42 CFR, Part 2), the Revised Code of Washington (RCW 71.05.390 and RCW 71.24), and other applicable laws pertaining to confidentiality of client and staff information.
  • Maintains physical security of confidential materials and assigned Agency property.
