This position is for an Associate who will actively develop the skills and competencies required for a Component Technician/Truss Designer. The role involves completing a 16-week intensive training program, which includes online training, classroom instruction, and hands-on experience. The trainee will work under the supervision of a design manager, learning to prepare basic roof and/or floor truss designs by interpreting blueprints and collaborating with sales and customers. Key tasks include computing plan dimensions, entering design parameters into specialized software, reviewing plans with senior designers, producing truss placement layouts, providing job site support, learning pricing methods, and drafting bid proposals. The trainee will also prepare for and take certification tests. Upon successful completion of the training, the Design Technician Trainee (DIT) is expected to be capable of designing accurate, simple one-story structures.
