A Design Technician IV is an advanced technical professional who plays a key role in engineering, manufacturing, or product development teams. This position is responsible for preparing complex engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics using advanced CAD software, often working on detailed parts, assemblies, and system-level designs. Design Technician IVs operate with minimal supervision and frequently serve as a resource for less-experienced technicians, providing guidance and informal training when needed. They collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to ensure that all designs meet required specifications, standards, and project deadlines. In addition to drafting, they are involved in investigating and resolving design and fabrication issues, recommending improvements, and maintaining thorough documentation to comply with company and regulatory standards. They may also assist in building prototypes or conducting tests to validate design concepts. Typically, this role requires several years of relevant experience, advanced proficiency with CAD tools, strong engineering knowledge, and excellent attention to detail.
