About The Position

This is a contract role through Magnit for Consumers Energy in Jackson, Michigan. This is a hyrid role and requires working onsite 3 days a week. We are seeking a detail oriented and motivated Design Technician to join our team. This role will be to utilize the candidates Computer Aided Drafting skills to update records for Consumers Energy's HVD Lines Engineering department. Additional duties may include drafting scoping documentation for upcoming design projects and drafting permit drawings to submit to allow construction of our systems infrastructure. Purpose: These roles will address the backlog of drawing and documentation updates for our engineering records: Over 700 work orders from engineered projects require updates Over 1,100 record engineering tasks remain to be completed For reference, a similar effort in 2022 addressed 625 work orders Design technicians must have advanced computer and applications knowledge. Communication skills are important to this role. Clear and precise drawings are needed to effectively convey the designs to the operational and construction groups. The designs this person provide need to be safe, ergonomic, and practical. Drafting experience utilizing MicroStation or AutoCAD, or similar. An associate degree in the requisite scientific or technical field is preferred. Significant years of relevant design experience may be considered in lue of a technical degree.
