This individual is responsible for creating truss and/or wall panel designs and drawings prepared directly from information submitted on a company order form, client’s customer selection sheet, repeated from previous jobs, or from information developed by a design manager.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of truss design/estimating experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Mitek program.
  • Experience with PlanSwift.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create truss and/or wall panel designs and drawings.
  • Read and analyze construction plans/documents.
  • Analyze technical data and reports to ensure design meets specifications.
  • Understand and apply building codes and truss industry issues.
  • Communicate with building designers, builders, framers, architects, and structural engineers.
  • Prepare complex wood truss/panel design and layout drawings using proprietary software.
  • Review and check layout and design drawings prepared by less experienced truss technicians.
  • Assist in training inexperienced truss technicians.
  • Schedule truss/panel technician work and monitor jobs through the department.
