About The Position

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features. Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale. The Fluid Storage, Ventilation & Lubrication PMT is seeking a high‑performing Design Release Engineer (DRE) to own the full lifecycle delivery of ventilation systems across two critical propulsion portfolios: Transmission & Drive Unit Ventilation Systems, including vents, fill/final drive breathers, and thermal/pressure management interfaces. CSS 50T/625T/675T Engine Ventilation, covering PCV systems, separators, tubes, valves, rocker cover interfaces, and leak‑free system integration. This role ensures robust system design, flawless launches, and lifetime reliability through disciplined engineering execution, cross‑functional leadership, and deep technical ownership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience (DRE, design, calibration, RESS, VDDV, or similar).
  • Proficiency in design release process, FMEAs, validation planning, and drawing/specification management.
  • Strong analytical problem‑solving skills and ability to drive cross‑functional alignment.
  • Excellent technical communication and urgency-oriented execution.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PCV systems, drivetrain vents, sealed interfaces, or lubricant/thermal management components.
  • Familiarity with GM release systems (Teamcenter, eTrackTool, eMerge,).
  • Demonstrated performance supporting high-visibility program launches.
  • Supplier management and global collaboration experience.
  • Ability to translate system-level requirements into robust component engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end design release for Transmission/Drive Unit ventilation components and CSS 50T/625T/675T PCV/ventilation systems.
  • Own DFMEAs, DVP&R execution, drawings, specifications, and release packages in Teamcenter.
  • Develop and maintain sealed, leak‑free, serviceable ventilation systems that meet all performance, durability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive issue resolution for all launch- and validation‑related concerns using an urgency‑biased, data-driven approach.
  • Partner with PET, SQ, Validation, Manufacturing, and CE teams to ensure timing adherence and production readiness.
  • Support plant triage, breakpoints, deviation planning, and supplier containment as needed.
  • Lead global suppliers through sourcing, development, PPAP, and ongoing engineering changes.
  • Ensure validation completeness and technical credibility through disciplined test planning, execution, and root‑cause analysis.
  • Ensure proper thermal, pressure, flow, and NVH performance of ventilation systems within the larger propulsion environment.
  • Collaborate with Transmission, Drive Unit, and CSS engine teams to drive design compatibility and eliminate cross‑system failure modes.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce warranty, cost, mass, and complexity without compromising system robustness.
  • Elevate technical rigor and promote PMT standards, best practices, and global process adherence.
