About The Position

Starwood Hotels is seeking a Design Project Manager to join our dynamic and fast-paced design team. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in hospitality, commercial, and/or residential design projects and has been actively involved in all phases of the interior architecture and design process. This role requires a balance of creative thinking, technical expertise, organization, and project management discipline. The Design Project Manager will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, ownership groups, consultants, and external design teams to ensure projects are delivered on brand, on schedule, and on budget — from concept through hotel opening. This position reports to senior design leadership. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful hospitality projects within a global platform. The Design Project Manager plays a critical role in translating brand vision into built environments that deliver exceptional guest experiences. Requirements

  • 6–10 years of professional experience in interior design and/or architecture
  • Hospitality project experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Environmental Design, Architecture, or related field
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in various phases simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and coordination abilities
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), SketchUp and/or Rhino, and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of FF&E development and documentation

  • Hand sketching skills a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage design projects from concept development through construction administration and project closeout
  • Ensure all design deliverables align with brand standards and overall project objectives
  • Review and comment on architectural and interior construction documentation, including drawings, schedules, specifications, and custom details
  • Develop, review, and manage FF&E packages, including selection and documentation of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and material specifications
  • Coordinate with ownership groups, development partners, architects, consultants, and vendors
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and key milestones to ensure timely execution
  • Support the preparation of design presentations, mood boards, material palettes, and concept documentation
  • Assist in developing and managing FF&E budgets and procurement tracking
  • Obtain and manage samples; maintain strong relationships with vendors and fabricators
  • Conduct site visits and participate in construction administration reviews as needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams including Development, Operations, and Brand Experience & Education
